Always Copying my Sister

well here I am. A self professed "creative" writer and the only thing I've written lately is my daily journals for my internship (which are hardly able to contain imaginative wording). Today I was reading my sisters food blog (Taste and See) and I was struck by the wonderful way in which I could almost taste the food she was describing- and then I realized I haven't actually enjoyed writing anything since my freshman year of college.

I can vividly remember calling out to my roommate to read a sentence or paragraph that I thought was exceptionally good and later beaming with pride with I handed my paper into a fellow classmate for proofreading. I'm not sure what happened in that summer between freshman and sophomore year but I can tell you this: I became a writing drone. I only wrote to complete assignments. I lost the urge to delight my reader.

I shall take it no more! Gone are my highschool Xanga days, gone are all of my two-week attempts at keeping a steady journal, gone are the days of "I've got to remember to write that down."

I've "come to anew!"- to borrow a line from Ever After. I will not let the wonderful things I've seen and heard pass by without record. I will no longer forget to write down the ideas for children's books that pop into my head at the oddest moments. And last, but not least. My parents will finally know what is going on in my life!

Hold me to it all! -we'll see how long it lasts
